I explain, Glutathione is a tripeptide made up of three amino acids: glutamate, cysteine and glycine, which is found in our cells and its function is to protect cells from oxidation. In our daily diet, food does not have sufficient quantities, and as we age the physiological production of our body is less and less.
Glutathione is famous for being an agent that delays the signs of aging. The cosmetics industry has adopted it in anti-wrinkle creams and capsules. Another interest is that it inhibits the production of melanin: who is responsible for the color of our skin.
Our body has difficulties in absorbing glutathione, in addition to the fact that gastric juices degrade it for the most part.
It is very essential for the immune system to exercise its full potential; for example, in the modulation of the presentation of antigens to lymphocytes, which influences the production of cytokines and the type of response (cellular or humoral) that develops; it is able to increase the proliferation of lymphocytes, which increases the magnitude of the response, also increase the activity of killing cytotoxic T cells and NK cells, and the regulation of apoptosis, thus maintaining control of the immune response .
It plays a fundamental role in numerous metabolic and biochemical reactions such as DNA synthesis and repair, protein synthesis, prostaglandin synthesis, amino acid transport, and enzyme activation. Therefore, all body systems can be affected by the state of the glutathione system, especially the immune system, the nervous system, the gastrointestinal system, and the lungs.
